Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 was a thing of beauty. The film did start out with some stale jokes, which could have been punched up at some point during production (I will forgive James Gunn, as should you). GOTG2 was a journey through the maturation process of a family of unlikely friends who through impossible events end up better individuals because of their bond. What happens in the final arch of the picture surpasses what happened in the first film. The wife I were shocked. This is the first Marvel film where I felt there were actual repercussions to the actions of the heroes and the villain’s.
James Gunn brings the best out of his actors. Michael Rooker and a digitally created racoon (Rocket) shined so brightly in the film at times I forgot Chris Pratt was even the focus of it. Yondu, stole the show. His character was given so much depth that I honestly was left with my jaw on the floor at how well his storyline was wrote.
Where Gunn goes from here with Volume 3 is beyond me. The Adventures of Star-Lord and crew are not only my favorite Marvel group. They are the only one that has made me cry.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 gets a bright old 4.5 out 5. Go see it!!!
