I walked into the theater to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them with ZERO expectations and walked out seriously impressed with a film that serves the Potterverse very well. Eddie Redmayne blew the doors off the joint again (lets not even mention that one suckfest) with his acting skills as Newt Scamander a Wizard with a strange of obsession with of course, with magical beasts.
The rest of the cast did great work with Ezra Miller (Credence) and Katherine Waterston (Porpentina Goldstien) standing out above the rest. David Yates has yet to do the Potterverse a true disservice. The man really pulled out some great performances and put out film that flows well from beginning to end.
So, was this a simple cash grab by the folks at Warner Bros? Nope. Not in the slightest. It was an expansion of the Wizarding World that started with young boy named Harry and spells (pun intended) great things with a new expanded universe in a year of ho-hum super hero films for the Execs at Warner.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them lands a solid 4.5 out 5 on the Nerd Scales.
